Objectives

This course covers the basics of rope access according to the IRATA training standard. The training consists of three levels. A rope access worker at level one (Level 1) can get to and from the workplace using ropes, can use fall arrest equipment and perform basic peer rescue. Level 2 covers all types of rope access including tensioned lines and more advanced rescues. Level 3 covers work management, risk analysis, legislation, complex rescue scenarios, rescue management and work equipment inspection (basic understanding, special training available to become a competent person).

Certification

In order to guarantee the quality of the training, each training stage ends with a full-day assessment conducted by an external English-speaking examiner from IRATA on site at the C2 Training Centre in Uppsala. Level 3 candidates also have a theoretical test online. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a diploma, a certificate with a unique IRATA number and a logbook for repair work. The certification process takes place at IRATA's office in England and takes about two weeks. A temporary certificate of successful completion of the assessment, valid for 60 days, is issued immediately after completion of the course.

Pre-requirements

The course is physically demanding, good health and adequate fitness are a must.

No prior knowledge of IRATA level 1. IRATA 2 and 3 require 1000 logged working hours and 12 months as an IRATA 1 and 2 technician respectively. Logbook must be shown before the start of the course.
