GWO BTT - Basic Technical Training
The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training standard is a new standard for training in the wind energy industry, and is an important and necessary step to increase safety and reduce risks when working on wind turbines.
The course provides the participant with a basic knowledge of safe working practices and equipment. After completing the training, the participant will have an awareness of the most common hazards that can occur when working with hydraulic, mechanical and electrical installation systems. No prior knowledge is required to participate in the training.
- Course nameGWO BTT - Basic Technical Training
- Location: Uppsala
- Length: 5 days
- Times: 08.30–16.30
- Antal deltagare: Minimum 4, maximum 8 persons
- Examination: Practical, oral and written exercises
Modules
The programme is divided into four stand-alone modules, each focusing on a specific technical discipline in wind energy work:
- BTT Mechanical Module
- This module provides the participant with the basic knowledge to perform mechanical tasks in a safe and efficient way. The focus is on the correct use of personal protective equipment and established work procedures.
- BTT Electrical Module
- Here the participant learns to perform simple electrical tasks under the supervision of an experienced wind power technician. The training emphasises the importance of clear safety procedures when working with electricity.
- BTT Hydraulics Module
- After completing the module, the participant has the competence to independently handle basic hydraulic tasks, with an understanding of safety aspects and responsibility in focus.
- BTT Bolt Tightening Module
- This module focuses on ensuring quality and safety during bolt tightening with power tools. The participant gains knowledge of both practical elements and how the work is documented, planned and reviewed according to industry requirements.
Target group
C2 Basic Technical Training GWO is a basic training programme for anyone working with electricity, mechanics and hydraulics in wind turbines. For example, wind turbine technicians, repairers, electricians and others. The training ensures that everyone who works with and in a wind turbine has the same basic knowledge - a common minimum level of knowledge, methodology and safety thinking. C2 Basic Technical Training GWO is a 4½-day training course conducted according to the international GWO standard.
Examination takes place through practical, oral and written exercises, with continuous evaluation of the student during the course days. In case of uncertainty, the student has the right to appeal the evaluation. This must be done in writing to the Training Manager.
C2 Basic Technical Training GWO is conducted in warm indoor premises during all months of the year. Experienced and well-trained instructors from C2 Vertical Training lead the training. Completed and approved training provides an international certificate according to the GWO standard.
