Target group
GWO Basic Safety Training is a basic training programme for everyone who works with the design and maintenance of wind turbines, such as wind turbine technicians, repairers, electricians and others. The training ensures that everyone who works with and in a wind turbine has the same basic knowledge - a common minimum level of knowledge, methodology and safety thinking. GWO Basic Safety Training is a 4-day training course conducted according to the international GWO standard.
Examination takes place through both practical and oral exercises, continuous evaluation of the student takes place during the course days. In case of uncertainty, the student has the right to appeal the evaluation. This must be done in writing to the Training Manager.
GWO Basic Safety Training is conducted in warm indoor premises during all months of the year. Experienced and well-trained instructors from C2 Vertical Training lead the training. Completed and approved training provides an international certificate for work in wind turbines according to the GWO standard.
Health declaration
Before starting climbing during the Working at Height module, all students should sign a health declaration to confirm sufficient fitness for such activities.
Personal protective equipment
We offer the possibility to buy personal protective equipment during the course.
Course element
Includes the GWO Basic Safety Training modules Manual handling, Fire awareness, First aid and Working at height.
First aid
The course element deals with the special environment of the wind turbine as a workplace, how the human body reacts and what risks the work entails and how to act in case of emergency intervention for an injured colleague. Review and training work models and methods first aid in incidents and accidents, efforts with defibrillators, CPR and knowledge of emergency medical care. The course covers one day.
Manual handling
Work ergonomics and aids/equipment when working in wind turbines. The basics of a safe and efficient way of working. The course element covers half a day.
Fire awareness
Increased knowledge of the fire risk in a wind turbine and how to act if something happens. What kind of safety equipment is available in a wind turbine and how to use it. The course covers half a day.
Work at height
Procedures and methods for working at height in wind turbines. Work with fall protection rails and other equipment, evacuation of the victim and use of personal protective equipment. Review and skills training for effective and safe work at height. The course covers two days.
Course information
We provide the equipment and materials for the course. At C2's training courses, we always use the latest and best equipment available on the market. The courses can be held in both Swedish and English. The training is carried out at our training centre in Uppsala.
