IRATA L1

IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) is the world leader in the certification of rope access workers.

Target group

C2 Vertical Safety offers IRATA courses at all levels.

Anyone who wants to start working with rope access as a profession or as part of their professional practice and wants an internationally recognised certificate.

Note: This course takes a maximum of 8 students and is conducted in Swedish or English.

Objectives

This course covers the basics of rope work according to the IRATA training standard. The training consists of three levels. A Level 1 rope access worker is able to get to and from the workplace using ropes, can use fall arrest equipment and perform basic peer rescue. Level two (Level 2) covers all types of rope rigging including tensioned ropes (Tyrolean traverses) and complex rescue scenarios. Level 3 covers work management, risk analysis, legislation, rescue management and inspection of work equipment.

Certification

To guarantee the quality of the training, each stage of the course ends with a full-day examination conducted by an external English-speaking examiner from IRATA on site at the C2 Training Centre in Uppsala. Upon completion of the course you will receive a diploma, a certificate with a unique IRATA number and a logbook for repair work. The certification process takes place at IRATA's office in England and takes about two weeks. A temporary proof of completed assessment that is valid for 60 days is obtained immediately after completing the course.

Prerequisites

No prior knowledge of IRATA level 1. IRATA 2 and 3 require 1000 logged working hours and 12 months as an IRATA 1 and 2 technician respectively. Logbook must be shown before the start of the course.
IRATA 2 and 3 also require mastery of the knowledge, techniques and manoeuvres of the previous level.

Medical requirements

The course participant must be fully healthy and have the ability to stay in a high-altitude environment. We recommend a medical examination with work ECG according to AFS for Medical checks (AFS 2005:6) with the same requirements as for work in Mast and Pole.
