SPEED, the new patented runner for high-altitude systems from SKYLOTEC, is ahead of its time. While work on improving the EN 353-1 safety standard for guided type fall arresters on a fixed anchor line continues, we have solved the problem: with our new SPEED runner. The principle behind SPEED is simple: the safety bolt is hidden in the housing and protected there against unauthorised access. Through an additional locking lever, SPEED acts as a pull-back runner during climbing. The runner stays close to the climber so that the fall distance is short. This creates comfort during the climb and minimises fall-related injuries. If the pull-back function does not work, due to mistakes or unfavourable conditions, the runner can only reach a fixed pre-set maximum speed. If the runner exceeds this speed, an independent second safety function kicks in: a centrifugal brake swings out and the runner is blocked.
