A rope moped is a tool used to quickly and easily transport ropes and other equipment along a climbing rope or static line. A rope moped consists of a wheel-shaped unit with a hook or carabiner attached to an anchor point high on the climbing wall. The rope or line is threaded through the unit and then pulled by a motor attached to the unit or by another person holding the unit. Rope mopeds are usually used in large climbing projects or when working at high altitudes, as it can take a lot of time and energy to transport equipment up the climbing wall manually. Using a rope moped can save both time and energy, while reducing the risk of damage to the rope or equipment.
