Double Pulleys

Double blocks are more advanced blocks consisting of two pulleys mounted on a fixed shaft. Double blocks offer a higher mechanical advantage, meaning less force is required to move the rope through the block. Double blocks are most often used to create a 'haul system', allowing heavy objects to be transported up or down with minimal effort. Double blocks are usually larger and heavier than single blocks and are usually used in more demanding climbing situations.
