The Edelrid PINCH is an innovative semi-automatic belay and rappelling device with assisted braking for sport climbing, multipitch climbing, and rope access. Its unique design allows direct attachment to the harness's central belay loop, providing enhanced control, ergonomics, and safety.

PINCH places the brake near the body, improving control over the brake rope and eliminating the risk of cross-loading the belay carabiner. The front steel braking grooves provide a straight rope flow that reduces jamming and increases abrasion resistance. The integrated anti-panic function automatically locks the device if the lowering handle is pulled too far, while an additional braking step provides better control at low loads or high rope friction. For experienced users and rope access technicians, the anti-panic function can be permanently disabled if necessary.

Areas of use

PINCH is developed for sport climbing, multipitch climbing, and rope access. Thanks to the ability to mount the device directly to the harness or anchor system in four different positions, it is equally suitable for belaying lead climbers as it is for rappelling and work-related rope access.
